Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Melton (ranked 7236 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Blurry (ranked 7493 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Blurry told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Melton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steven Blurry! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Melton shoots and misses and Blurry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Melton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blurry swivels and escapes. Nice body punch from Blurry. Blurry moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Blurry sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Blurry throws out a counter right but Melton avoids it with no problem. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Melton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Melton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melton missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Melton is working for a kimura but Blurry is defending it quite comfortably.
Melton winds up and cracks Blurry with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Melton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Blurry's head. Melton throws a strike but Blurry avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Melton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Blurry preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Melton stays in close to Blurry's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Blurry avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Melton with a flurry of punches that miss. Melton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Melton is looking to work some ground and pound but Blurry has wrist control. Melton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Melton stands up from Blurry's guard - Melton perhaps looking for a knockout. Melton dives in for a single leg takedown but Blurry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Blurry! But no joy. Melton moves into the clinch successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A right hook to the body lands for Melton.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Joe Melton. Melton moves into the clinch. Melton stalls. Melton just leaning against Blurry, taking a breather. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Melton controlling the action here for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Melton drops his hands momentarily and Blurry takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Melton has closed the distance and engaged Blurry in a clinch.

We've been informed that Blurry has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Melton takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Blurry is trying to break the clinch but Melton is controlling him. Melton effectively controlling the action here. Come on Melton - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Melton dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Melton is stalling here.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Joe Melton. Melton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Blurry sneaks out the side door and pushes Melton away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Melton will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Melton moves into range and clinches up with Blurry. Blurry letting Melton take a breather here. Melton tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Blurry's elbow. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Melton stalling the fight.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Joe Melton. Blurry sizes up Melton with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Nice jab there from Blurry. Melton shoots in looking for a takedown but Blurry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Melton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Melton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Melton clinches up with Blurry and pushes him back against the cage. Joe Melton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Blurry can't break the clinch.
