Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Arnold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carl James!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arnold moves into the clinch.
Arnold really is a fat lump.
James is trying to break the clinch but Arnold is controlling him.
Arnold's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Arnold can't get the takedown.

Arnold's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Arnold forces James back against the cage and clinches.
James working hard to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Arnold is trying to trip James. He has hold of a leg but James is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Arnold persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Arnold gets to his feet - James follows without any prompting.
James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Arnold is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from James.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Arnold has James up against the cage in a clinch.
James tries to break free but Arnold pushes him back against the cage.
Arnold tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
James wants to break free but Arnold has control.
James has had enough of the clinch but Arnold keeps him there for the moment.
James tries to circle away but Arnold has him pinned against the cage.
James can't break the clinch.
James tries to break free but Arnold pushes him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Arnold controlling the action here for a moment.
James is trying to break free.

Arnold pulls guard effortlessly.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arnold. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Arnold is adopting a defensive guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Arnold is on top in guard.

Arnold missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Arnold stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Arnold pushes James up against the cage in a clinch.
James is trying to break free.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Arnold won't allow it.
James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Arnold drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matthew Arnold. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James prevents a takedown attempt there.
Arnold tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.

James drops Arnold with a beautiful combination! Arnold stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - James is looking for the KO!


It looks like Matthew Arnold has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Arnold takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! James cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Carl James!
Carl James decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
