Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chienh Chih Wu (ranked 7566 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Alvarez (ranked 6014 p4p, 0 weight class). Ty Alvarez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chienh Chih Wu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ty Alvarez! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wu moves in looking to clinch but Alvarez pushes him off. Alvarez has managed to clinch.
Alvarez lands a left hand that snaps the head of Wu backwards. Wu has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Alvarez jumps into guard, dragging Wu to the mat.
Alvarez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Wu trying to control but Alvarez is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez trying to control the position here. Alvarez keeping moving, preventing Wu from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez controlling the position. Alvarez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Wu passes into side control.
Alvarez is not content to let Wu control the position. Wu postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Wu trying to control the position but Alvarez is working away. Wu wants to stand but Alvarez is controlling his arm. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alvarez can do anything to dispel that myth. Wu wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy. Wu working away. Both fighters take a look at the clock.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Alvarez misses with a low kick.
Wu has a takedown stuffed. Alvarez fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarez clinches with his opponent.
Wu has Alvarez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Alvarez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Alvarez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wu after a bit of a struggle. Alvarez jumps guard but Wu turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Chienh Chih Wu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ty Alvarez. Wu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alvarez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wu walks away with a smile on his face. Alvarez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Wu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alvarez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wu fails with the takedown and Alvarez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Wu! Wu manages to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Wu defends it well. Wu looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Alvarez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Wu trying to control from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ty Alvarez dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Wu scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alvarez doesn't seem bothered though. Wu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Alvarez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wu.
Wu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Alvarez counters with a series of strikes. Wu will be more careful next time no doubt. Wu lands a head kick. Alvarez smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Alvarez misses with a kick to the body.
Alvarez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Wu is trying to defend but Alvarez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alvarez is working away from the top position though. Alvarez is looking to advance position but Wu won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez sitting and controlling from the half guard. Wu manages to get to full guard.
Wu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Alvarez content to stall in guard here. Alvarez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Alvarez preventing the sweep. Alvarez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alvarez has Wu in his guard. Alvarez has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Wu has passed into side control.
Wu has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarez moves into the clinch successfully.
A short left from Alvarez. Alvarez wants the takedown. Wu is fighting it off but Alvarez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wu's guard against the cage. Alvarez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Wu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wu wants to sweep here but Alvarez controlling him for the moment. Wu is trying to control the position but Alvarez postures up. Alvarez looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alvarez looking to improve position, pressing down on Wu's thigh with his hand. Wu seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Alvarez paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Alvarez's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Wu picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
