PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juu Dyon (ranked 1070 p4p, 125 weight class) and Steve Sanchez (ranked 1825 p4p, 226 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Where is My Mind? by Pixies as his entrance music. Steve Sanchez will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dyon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sanchez swivels and escapes.
Sanchez has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Sanchez cracks Dyon with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Sanchez lands a nice shot that snaps Dyon's head back.

Sanchez closes the distance and clinches.

Sanchez pushes Dyon back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dyon has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sanchez avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Steve Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dyon takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Dyon lands with a short shot to the head.
Sanchez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dyon backwards.
Sanchez looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Dyon goes for a takedown attempt but Sanchez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sanchez bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dyon's head.
Sanchez misses with a few strikes there.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sanchez enables Dyon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sanchez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dyon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sanchez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dyon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Sanchez is tightening it up a little... Dyon has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Dyon reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Dyon taps out! Nice BJJ there by Sanchez!
