4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mohamed Walal! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walal does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Auwkerham is looking to clinch. That kick from Auwkerham tenderised Walal's leg. Walal is trying to keep his angry face on. Auwkerham wants to clinch. Mohamed Walal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Auwkerham tries to clinch up but Walal circles away and keeps his distance. Auwkerham tries to clinch but Walal moves out of range. Walal gets in close and instigates a clinch. Walal avoiding damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walal breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Walal drives through and clinches with Auwkerham against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round. Walal jumps guard and drags Auwkerham to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Walal pulls Auwkerham in close to prevent any damage. Walal has his feet on Auwkerham's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Auwkerham is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Walal throws a head kick but Auwkerham moves out of range.
Rodolfo Auwkerham is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Auwkerham tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Walal manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Walal is looking for the big counter here. Walal bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Walal working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Walal working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Walal controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A control attempt from Auwkerham but he's now mounted! Walal controlling the pace for now. Auwkerham wants to hold on but Walal pushes him away. Walal controlling from the full mount. Walal lands a nice shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Auwkerham is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Walal controlling from mount. Walal working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Auwkerham looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Walal! Submission of the night perhaps?
