Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 18 - 3, fighting out of New York, Nikolai Luzhin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy McLarnin! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McLarnin misses the body punch and Luzhin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. A jab from Luzhin misses. Luzhin throws a hook to the side of McLarnin's head but McLarnin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Luzhin misses with the combination.
Luzhin throws a hook but McLarnin blocks it. Luzhin looks for the body kick but McLarnin saw that one coming. Luzhin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. McLarnin sees it coming and avoids it easily. Luzhin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Luzhin wants to clinch. McLarnin misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luzhin scores with a three punch combo!
McLarnin misses with a lunging right hand
and Luzhin counters with a straight right hand. Luzhin misses with a looping left. McLarnin gets tackled into the ropes by Luzhin. Luzhin maintains the clinch. Luzhin landing knees to the head.
Luzhin stalls. Luzhin scores with a knee to the head.
Luzhin wants to stall.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Luzhin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Luzhin landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McLarnin is looking for a takedown. Luzhin can't break the clinch.
Luzhin wants to stall.
Luzhin lands an uppercut. Luzhin with an attempt at a knee that misses.
A short left from McLarnin. Luzhin stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Luzhin is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Luzhin lands a left hand that snaps the head of McLarnin backwards. Luzhin is looking to control McLarnin's arms but McLarnin gets an underhook and turns him. Now Luzhin has his back to the ropes. McLarnin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. McLarnin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
McLarnin's coach down at Doherty's Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McLarnin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Luzhin gets underhooks to prevent McLarnin's takedown attempt.
McLarnin is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Luzhin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Nikolai Luzhin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy McLarnin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Luzhin throws a knee to the head but misses.
Luzhin with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Luzhin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. McLarnin looks to score with a jab to the body but Luzhin is just out of range. Luzhin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck McLarnin on the side of the head. Luzhin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McLarnin's waist but McLarnin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Luzhin off to one side. As Luzhin backs off McLarnin throws a huge counter combo but Luzhin manages to avoid it all. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McLarnin. McLarnin ducks under a wild hook from Luzhin. McLarnin is looking to land body kicks.
That's five minutes gone in the round. McLarnin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Luzhin throws a head kick but McLarnin moves out of range.
McLarnin slips under a jab. Luzhin misses with an uppercut
and McLarnin counters with a nice body kick. Luzhin avoids the body shot from McLarnin.
McLarnin ducks right into an uppercut from Luzhin. Luzhin tries to close the distance and clinch up but McLarnin swats him away and circles back towards the center. McLarnin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. A combination from McLarnin does no damage. Luzhin throws a lazy right hand but McLarnin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Despite the aggression on McLarnin's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Luzhin scores with a decent looking hook. Luzhin thows a body kick. McLarnin tries to catch it but that hurt him. Luzhin throws a hook but McLarnin blocks it. Luzhin scores with a head kick. McLarnin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jab, jab by Luzhin - just one landing.
McLarnin is rocked! Luzhin lands a big right hand that sends McLarnin crashing to the mat! Luzhin stays standing though and waves McLarnin back to his feet! McLarnin is still on wobbly legs! Can Luzhin finish him? McLarnin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Luzhin. McLarnin walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Luzhin! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nikolai Luzhin! Nikolai Luzhin made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'i m old and still beat your ass pussyboy ha ha ha title shot is whats next '.
