Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akira Harada! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Collins ! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Topper Green and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harada throws a series of punches but Collins avoids them all with ease. Harada misses with a lunging right hand
and Collins counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Collins slips a jab from Harada. Harada has been working on his boxing with his coaches at 3Band MMA ($700/week) in the buildup to the fight. Harada throws a series of punches but Collins avoids them all with ease. Harada throws a right and a left that Collins avoids nicely. Harada throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Collins sees it coming and avoids it easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. Harada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Akira Harada seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice uppercut there from Collins . A jab lands there for Collins . Harada lands a head shot. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Collins drops Harada with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Harada! Collins dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Steve Collins ! Steve Collins tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
