Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Kay (ranked 2542 p4p, 129 weight class) and Yang Xinhai (ranked 1204 p4p, 58 weight class). Yang Xinhai acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Kay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Yang Xinhai!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kay misses with a takedown attempt
and Xinhai counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kay with a poor takedown
and Xinhai connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Kay gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kay with the ground and pound but Xinhai uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Xinhai wants to stand up but Kay is controlling him.
Xinhai preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kay throws an elbow that misses. Xinhai uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kay's guard. Nice move by Xinhai!


Xinhai stands up and waves to Kay to follow him.
Xinhai throws a good cross that connects.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kay takes one to the side of the head.
Yang Xinhai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Xinhai dips to his left and cracks Kay with an uppercut!
Brandon Kay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kay tries to move into range but Xinhai moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Kay shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Xinhai has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Kay is on him like a limpet, forcing Xinhai back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Xinhai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kay shoots in and drives through. Xinhai sprawls well.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Xinhai! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Kay. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kay tries for a takedown but Xinhai circles away easily
and Xinhai counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Xinhai lands with a good body shot.
Kay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Xinhai counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Xinhai displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Kay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Xinhai sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kay somewhat.

Kay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kay lands in his opponent's guard.

Xinhai utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Xinhai avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kay throwing strikes but missing.
Kay is looking to work some ground and pound but Xinhai has wrist control.
Kay won't allow Xinhai to get back to his feet.
Kay with a nice head shot there.
Kay throws a big elbow that misses.
Kay missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kay in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Xinhai working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Kay.
Xinhai utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kay working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kay lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Xinhai manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Xinhai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Xinhai counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kay is trying hard to land a takedown here. Xinhai sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Xinhai leaves Kay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yang Xinhai dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters circle momentarily. Xinhai darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kay has his takedown stuffed
and Xinhai cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kay throws a sloppy head kick
and Xinhai counters with a two punch combo.


Kay is rocked!
Xinhai drops Kay with a naaaaasty hook - Kay is in real trouble here! Xinhai dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Yang Xinhai!
Yang Xinhai decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
