Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Kim Il Sung (ranked 1520 p4p, 43 weight class) and Charley Hanagan (ranked 1805 p4p, 45 weight class). Il Sung kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Death in Vegas- Dirt. Hanagan has chosen Guilty Until Proven Innocent as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Kim Il Sung! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Charley Hanagan! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Hanagan tries to close the distance and clinch but Il Sung swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hanagan moves into the clinch. Il Sung gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hanagan.
Il Sung is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hanagan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Il Sung to the mat. Il Sung regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Il Sung (0) vs (2) Hanagan Hanagan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Hanagan trying to control from half guard but Il Sung is working away. Il Sung is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Il Sung is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hanagan pulls his head out easily. Hanagan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Il Sung sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Il Sung wants to improve his position but Hanagan is controlling well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Hanagan is pressing down on Il Sung's thigh, looking to free his foot. Il Sung is holding on for now. Hanagan passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Il Sung (0) vs (5) Hanagan Hanagan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Il Sung is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. You can see the frustration on Il Sung's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hanagan tries to move to mount but Il Sung blocks the move with his legs. We've been hearing good reports from Il Sung's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
