Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Basket Case! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Disco Kid! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kid feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Kid controlling from the top position. Kid trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Kid drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Case manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kid has Case in his guard.
Kid has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Case can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Kid is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kid wants to work for an arm triangle but Case is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kid passes to side control. Kid taking a breather here. Let's hope that Kid has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Kid is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Case knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kid trying to control the position but Case is working away. Case on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Case tries to get out of the position. Kid in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Case is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Disco Kid! A relieved looking Disco Kid thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
