1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Connar Scanlan! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown attempt by Scanlan or perhaps it was just good defense by Odonnell, which made it look bad. Odonnell leaves Scanlan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Scanlan scores with a hook to the body. Odonnell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Odonnell closes the distance and clinches. Odonnell wants to take the fight to the mat but Scanlan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Scanlan is looking to take this one to the mat. Houston Odonnell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Connar Scanlan. Scanlan looks winded! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Odonnell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Scanlan uses from the top position. Scanlan won't allow Odonnell to sweep him here. Odonnell pulls Scanlan in close to prevent any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Scanlan wants to control but Odonnell is keeping busy.

Scanlan shoots for a double leg takedown but Odonnell sprawls well. He's pushed Scanlan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Odonnell drops down looking for a counter takedown but Scanlan sprawls and moves away. Odonnell clinches with his opponent.
Odonnell is trying to drag Scanlan to the mat but Scanlan just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Odonnell tightens his grip and picks Scanlan up, before dumping him to the ground. Scanlan manages to land in guard. Scanlan manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Scanlan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Odonnell defends it nicely. Odonnell is looking to counter the offense by Scanlan and move into the clinch. Scanlan is breathing heavily. Scanlan wants to clinch up but Odonnell keeps it at a distance. Odonnell is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Scanlan can do to turn this around? Scanlan takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Scanlan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Odonnell avoids it really well and circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Odonnell. Scanlan gets caught napping as Odonnell dives in and scores a takedown. Scanlan manages to retain guard. Scanlan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Odonnell attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Odonnell tries to clinch up. Scanlan throws a fast counter high kick but Odonnell manages to duck under it in time.

Scanlan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Odonnell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scanlan somewhat. Odonnell gets a takedown into half guard. Scanlan tries to roll over but Odonnell keeps him under control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scanlan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Odonnell is working away from the top position though. God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Scanlan trying to control but Odonnell postures up.
