PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexei Pavlov (ranked 5849 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shahwali Hussainzada (ranked 3322 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alexei Pavlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shahwali Hussainzada!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hussainzada drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hussainzada stays in close to Pavlov's body and controls the position.
Pavlov is trying to control the position but Hussainzada postures up.
Hussainzada controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hussainzada wanted to stand there but Pavlov had control of the position.
Hussainzada seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hussainzada closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

You can see the frustration on Pavlov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hussainzada is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pavlov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Pavlov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hussainzada manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hussainzada fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pavlov sprawls well initially but Hussainzada persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hussainzada is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pavlov reverses the position - he's now on top in Hussainzada's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hussainzada can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hussainzada really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pavlov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pavlov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hussainzada tries to avoid it but Pavlov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hussainzada to the ground. Hussainzada escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hussainzada darts in looking for a takedown but Pavlov gets double underhooks and turns Hussainzada into the cage.

Hussainzada closes the distance and clinches up with Pavlov, looking for a takedown. Hussainzada pushes Pavlov against the cage but Pavlov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pavlov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hussainzada's waist but Hussainzada gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pavlov off to one side.
Hussainzada tries to land a front kick but Pavlov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Hussainzada throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pavlov tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hussainzada is in Pavlov's guard.

Hussainzada is nestled in close to Pavlov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
