Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chongyang Lu (ranked 2552 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brynjolfur Davidsdottir (ranked 4436 p4p, 0 weight class). Davidsdottir has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Brynjolfur Davidsdottir has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chongyang Lu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brynjolfur Davidsdottir! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davidsdottir gets caught napping as Lu dives in and scores a takedown. Davidsdottir manages to retain guard. Davidsdottir looks winded! Lu pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davidsdottir is keeping the position for now. Lu decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Davidsdottir, up you get! Lu closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lu lands in his opponent's guard. Lu is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davidsdottir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lu has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Davidsdottir is proving hard to escape from. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lu stays in close to Davidsdottir's body and controls the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Davidsdottir gets caught flat footed, as Lu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Lu wants to control from the top but Davidsdottir keeps moving. Lu wants to pass the guard but Davidsdottir is keeping the position. Lu wants to control from the top but Davidsdottir keeps moving. Lu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davidsdottir swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lu preventing the sweep. Lu looking to pass the guard. Davidsdottir is trying to keep Lu in close.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Davidsdottir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lu is controlling him.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lu closes the distance and clinches. Lu lands a good knee to the midsection. Davidsdottir won't want to take too many of those. Lu breaks from the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A chopping leg kick lands by Lu. Lu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Lu controlling the pace. Davidsdottir is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lu lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lu content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chongyang Lu dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Lu shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Davidsdottir pushes Lu off but Lu dives into side control.
Lu in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Lu moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lu landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Lu is chipping away with strikes.
Davidsdottir is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davidsdottir taking a bit of punishment here - Lu scoring with strikes. Davidsdottir is not content to let Lu control the position. Lu wants to stand but Davidsdottir is controlling his arm. Lu lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lu is looking to take a break and control but Davidsdottir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Davidsdottir tries to improve position but can't. Lu scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Davidsdottir to see if he's OK. Lu tries to stand but Davidsdottir is controlling his head. Lu controlling from side mount. Lu seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Davidsdottir for as long as he can get away with. Lu wants to stand but Davidsdottir has his arm trapped.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Lu stalls from top position. Lu wants to control but Davidsdottir is keeping him busy.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Lu lands an overhand right. Lu moves into the clinch successfully.
Lu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lu closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Davidsdottir's guard. Chongyang Lu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lu trying to control but Davidsdottir is working from the bottom. Lu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davidsdottir swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lu is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Lu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lu lands a couple of decent looking shots. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lu throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chongyang Lu dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Lu throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davidsdottir tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lu is in Davidsdottir's guard. Lu trying to stand up but can't free himself from Davidsdottir's guard. Lu postures up in Davidsdottir's guard and throws a big left but Davidsdottir blocks it. Lu showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lu is in close to Davidsdottir's body, working some short punches and elbows. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lu content to stall in guard here. Davidsdottir is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lu defends well. Davidsdottir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Lu trying to stand up but can't free himself from Davidsdottir's guard. Lu controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lu lands a couple of digs. Lu looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lu looking to pass the guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lu is working Davidsdottir over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Lu trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Davidsdottir trying to control the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Chongyang Lu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Davidsdottir pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Davidsdottir gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Davidsdottir keeping full guard, as Lu tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lu would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lu postures up in Davidsdottir's guard and throws a big left but Davidsdottir blocks it. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Davidsdottir's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Chongyang Lu showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
