Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 2218 p4p, 101 weight class) and Ryan Tubridy (ranked 21649 p4p, 331 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Take my hand. Tubridy has chosen Late Late theme tune as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brian Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ryan Tubridy! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tubridy throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a body kick. Jones moves out of range as Tubridy strikes. Tubridy throws a lazy uppercut
and Jones counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Jones moves into the clinch. Tubridy decides to pull guard. Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tubridy is keeping the position for now. Tubridy keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tubridy trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.

Tubridy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Jones wants to pass the guard but Tubridy is keeping the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Tubridy misses with a two punch combination.
Tubridy fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A big left from Tubridy misses. It looked like Jones was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tubridy. Tubridy swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jones counters with a slapping leg kick. Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Tubridy trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to mount his opponent but Tubridy defends it. Jones is thwarting Tubridy's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tubridy won't allow Jones to pass to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Tubridy defends it well. Jones moves nicely into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tubridy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Jones looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Tubridy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tubridy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Tubridy can't do much from the bottom here. Jones looking to control but instead Tubridy has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Tubridy is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jones is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tubridy wants to control but Jones is keeping busy.

Brian Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tubridy tries to improve position but can't. Tubridy is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it. Tubridy is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Tubridy wants to control but Jones postures up. Tubridy is not content to let Jones control the position. Tubridy regains half guard there - taking advantage of Jones's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Tubridy wants to improve his position but Jones is controlling well.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tubridy can do to turn this around? Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. A telegraphed right hand from Tubridy misses the target. Jones is looking to counter with a shot to the body. A looping hook to the body misses from Tubridy. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet. Jones appears to be looking for a big counter. Tubridy missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Tubridy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tubridy throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily. Ryan Tubridy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tubridy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jones napping and manages to drive through into side control! The strikes coming from Tubridy are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Tubridy lands a nice forearm strike. Jones sneaks back into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones trying to control from the bottom.

Tubridy works his way back into a safe position though. We've been informed that Tubridy has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tubridy throwing strikes but missing. Tubridy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tubridy landing with the ground and pound. Tubridy throws a big elbow that misses. Jones is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Tubridy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Tubridy throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Tubridy is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Tubridy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
