Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Mart (ranked 5273 p4p, 421 weight class) and Tommas Holmsen (ranked 5301 p4p, 422 weight class). Holmsen has chosen Марыля Родо as his entrance music. Tommas Holmsen has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Carl Mart's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Mart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommas Holmsen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmsen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mart moves away.

Mart manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Holmsen on his heels. He'll look to pass Holmsen's guard now, I'm sure.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mart accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mart tries to free his leg and advance position but Holmsen is retaining full guard.

Mart stands and steps away. Holmsen gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
A looping hook to the body misses from Holmsen. Mart does a little dance to reset his feet.
A punch combination from Mart misses.
Holmsen missing with a left hand there. Mart was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Mart darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mart missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Mart thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Holmsen's head.
Mart sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Holmsen defending well though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mart with the ground and pound but Holmsen uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mart slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Mart with a flurry of punches that miss.
Holmsen is looking to stand up but Mart isn't so interested in that idea.
Mart looking to sit in guard and control but Holmsen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Holmsen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Holmsen prevents Mart from getting back to his feet.
Mart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mart manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Holmsen manages to break the clinch.
Holmsen throws a looping overhand right but Mart ducks down to avoid it.
Sloppy strikes from Holmsen. Those never looked like landing.
Mart appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Carl Mart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Holmsen misses with a body shot.
A combination from Holmsen does no damage.
Mart looks to land a combination but Holmsen avoids it well.
Holmsen changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Mart bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mart or perhaps it was just good defense by Holmsen, which made it look bad.
Mart shoots in for a takedown but Holmsen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mart misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mart drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Holmsen explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Mart shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Holmsen as he jumps to the side.
Mart is breathing heavily.
Mart tries to score a power double leg takedown but Holmsen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mart somewhat.
Holmsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Holmsen wants it to stay on the feet.
Holmsen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mart defends it well.
Nice takedown defense from Holmsen. No joy for Mart on that attempt.
Holmsen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mart moves away.
Holmsen throws a body shot but no joy.
Holmsen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Holmsen misses with a jab, cross combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Holmsen lands with a good body shot.

Holmsen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Mart tries to keep at a distance but Holmsen has taken the fight into the clinch.

Holmsen breaks from the clinch.
Holmsen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Holmsen lands a nice looking body shot.
Holmsen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Holmsen closes the distance and clinches.

Holmsen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Holmsen is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mart rather than just go for the knockout.
Holmsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mart manages to avoid it.
Mart takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Holmsen looks to score with a jab to the body but Mart is just out of range.
Holmsen misses with a body shot.
Holmsen tries to clinch up.
Mart tries to counter with a takedown but Holmsen is quick to defend against it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommas Holmsen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mart shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Holmsen's guard.
Mart postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mart shoots in looking for a takedown. Holmsen tries to sprawl out of it but Mart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Holmsen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Holmsen thuds a left hand into Mart's body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mart takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Holmsen swings for the body but Mart moves out of range.
Mart went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Holmsen lands a right hook to the body.
Holmsen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mart was well out of range. Poor timing from Holmsen.
Mart ducks under a wild hook from Holmsen.
Nice body punch from Holmsen.

Mart walks into a jab.

Holmsen has managed to clinch.

Holmsen manages to break the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mart uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Holmsen.
Holmsen throws a good cross that connects.
Mart moves out of range of the strikes.
Mart on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Mart fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Holmsen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Holmsen misses with the combination.
Holmsen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mart.
Mart misses with a takedown attempt - Holmsen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Holmsen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mart defends it well.

Holmsen lands a big right hook! Mart looks hurt but is still standing! Holmsen lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Mart falls down and Holmsen dives in with a huge hammer fist! Mart's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Holmsen runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tommas Holmsen!
An out of breath Tommas Holmsen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
