Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erich Stanley (ranked 24120 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Kruger (ranked 5876 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erich Stanley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Kruger!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stanley scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kruger is looking for a sweep. Stanley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kruger keeping control of the position.
Kruger is trying to get back to full guard.
Kruger is concentrating on defense, preventing Stanley from advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kruger works his way to full guard. Good work.
Stanley preventing the sweep.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stanley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kruger has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Stanley has passed into side control.

Stanley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kruger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kruger sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kruger keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Stanley is trying to work for a kimura but Kruger is defending well.

Kruger is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stanley pulls his head out easily.
Stanley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kruger moves into full guard.
Kruger controlling the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kruger is on top in guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stanley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kruger wants to pass the guard but Stanley is keeping the position.
Kruger trying to control the position from guard on top but Stanley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stanley is trying to keep Kruger in close.
Kruger passes Stanley's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kruger blocks the strikes from Stanley.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stanley is in trouble now - Kruger has advanced to mount!
Stanley is controlling an arm, preventing Kruger from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Kruger jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Stanley manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Stanley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Stanley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kruger is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Stanley has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kruger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Stanley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kruger lands some shots froms side control.

Kruger thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Stanley is not content to let Kruger control the position.
Stanley wants to control but Kruger postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Kruger dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kruger gets a takedown into half guard.
Stanley wants to get back to his feet.
Stanley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kruger is working away from the top position though.
Kruger is looking to advance position but Stanley won't allow it.
Kruger frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kruger lands with some strikes.

Kruger has hold of Stanley's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Stanley manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stanley tries to lock up and control but Kruger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Kruger wants to control the pace but Stanley is squirming around nicely.

Kruger avoids the attempt from Stanley to control.
Stanley is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kruger is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Stanley wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kruger fails to move to back control.
Stanley is looking to get to half guard.

Kruger looking for a guillotine from mount but Stanley is having none of it.
Kruger unloading with bombs!

Kruger is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Stanley can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kruger wants to finish this one by submission but Stanley is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kruger.
Kruger has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kruger is breathing heavily.

Stanley is trying to stand up.

Kruger is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Stanley is surviving well by controlling Kruger's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stanley wants to try and get back to his feet.
Kruger working the ground and pound effectively.
Kruger wants to take Stanley's back but he can't do it this time.
Stanley wants to control but Kruger is having none of it.
Kruger won't let Stanley get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Stanley tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kruger blocks Stanley's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Stanley wants to control but Kruger is having none of it.
Stanley keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Kruger working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Jesse Kruger has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stanley tries to hold on but Kruger pushes him away.
Stanley bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Stanley wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Kruger's closed guard. He's half up but Kruger has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Kruger pivots and extends the arm, Stanley falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Kruger! Well done that man!
