Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Berry Mycokiner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bryan Schaub! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mycokiner takes a swing at Schaub's ribcage but misses. Schaub now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Mycokiner missing with a left hand there. Schaub was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Schaub connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mycokiner. Mycokiner circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Mycokiner moves in looking to clinch but Schaub pushes him off. Mycokiner ducks under a wild hook from Schaub. Mycokiner wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Mycokiner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mycokiner scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Schaub bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Mycokiner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Schaub paws at him with a jab and circles away. Schaub swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mycokiner. The fight moves into the clinch position. Schaub is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mycokiner pulls him back up using the underhooks. Schaub tries to work over Mycokiner's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Schaub doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Schaub is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mycokiner to keep the fight standing. Schaub fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Berry Mycokiner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Schaub. Schaub misses with some punches.
A nice right hand lands inside from Schaub. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Schaub has clasped his hands together around Mycokiner's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Mycokiner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mycokiner tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schaub tries to advance to mount but can't. Schaub thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Both fighters take a look at the clock. Mycokiner trying to remain calm as Schaub controls from the top position. Schaub trying to control the action but Mycokiner is working from the bottom. Schaub is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Mycokiner is trying to escape and Schaub transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Mycokiner is forced to tap! Nice work there by Schaub! Very nice indeed!
