Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hamish McTavish (ranked 2185 p4p, 208 weight class) and Joseph Parker (ranked 4800 p4p, 397 weight class). Parker is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Roots Manuva - Again and Again. Hamish McTavish has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hamish McTavish! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Parker! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. McTavish throws a sloppy head kick and Parker moves out of range easily. A shot to the liver by McTavish. Beautiful body shot. McTavish throws a body shot but no joy. McTavish shoots in and drives through. Parker sprawls well. Parker looks like he wants to counter punch here. Parker takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McTavish shoots in for a takedown but Parker shows good takedown defense. It seemed like Parker was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round. McTavish throws a leg kick enabling Parker to counter with a crisp jab. McTavish shoots in looking for a takedown. Parker tries to sprawl out of it but McTavish keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Parker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hamish McTavish. That's going to take a lot out of him. McTavish darts in looking for a takedown but Parker gets double underhooks and turns McTavish into the cage. McTavish throws a head kick but Parker moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. McTavish shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Parker counter with a right hand. The fighters circling - McTavish throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Horrible takedown attempt by McTavish or perhaps it was just good defense by Parker, which made it look bad. Parker looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. A momentary lapse in concentration from Parker enables McTavish to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Parker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McTavish postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. McTavish is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McTavish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parker swivels though and keeps the full guard. McTavish will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. McTavish throws an elbow that misses. Parker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McTavish's guard. Nice move by Parker! McTavish throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McTavish looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Parker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Parker tries to stand and escape but McTavish is controlling the position. McTavish looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. McTavish is trying to get back to full guard. McTavish is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Parker pulls his head out easily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McTavish trying to control but Parker postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round. McTavish has his takedown stuffed and Parker counters with a nice uppercut. Hamish McTavish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McTavish closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. McTavish not landing any meaningful shots this time. McTavish has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. McTavish throwing shots but Parker is blocking nicely. Parker felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Parker regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from McTavish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McTavish missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. McTavish postures up in Parker's guard and throws a big left but Parker blocks it. Parker keeping moving, preventing McTavish from controlling successfully. McTavish controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McTavish accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. McTavish trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Parker manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

McTavish tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Parker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. McTavish wants to control but Parker postures up. Parker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. McTavish is positioning himself to get back to half guard. McTavish is working hard here to advance position. Parker might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. McTavish shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McTavish throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Parker's waist but Parker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McTavish off to one side. A low kick from McTavish misses and Parker counters with a lovely straight right hand! McTavish gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and McTavish takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McTavish throws a right hand that misses
and Parker counters with a nice uppercut. Excellent takedown into side control there by McTavish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McTavish is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Parker knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. McTavish looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Parker is avoiding damage well.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Parker. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. McTavish throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Hamish McTavish has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! McTavish lands an elbow. Parker dodges the ground and pound from McTavish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Parker is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. McTavish grinds an elbow into Parker's temple. Parker is trying to get back to his feet. McTavish slows the pace down. McTavish is chipping away with strikes.
Parker is rocked! McTavish cracks Parker with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! McTavish immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Parker is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by McTavish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hamish McTavish! Hamish McTavish was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
