Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cedric Perkins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Clough! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perkins is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Clough. Perkins lands an overhand right. Perkins has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Talu's Boxing Club in the buildup to the fight. Perkins misses with a looping right. Clough throws a jab when Perkins was well out of range. Perkins thows a left - swing and a miss! Clough scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Perkins doesn't seem bothered though. Clough throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Perkins cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A right-left combo lands from Perkins. Perkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Clough takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Clough moves into the clinch. Perkins tries to pull guard but Clough forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Clough prevents Perkins from breaking the clinch. Perkins misses with some punches.
This has been an exciting period of action! Clough lands on the inside with an uppercut.
It looks like Cedric Perkins has been cut. Perkins works on Clough's body with a couple of short punches. A short right hand to the side of the head by Clough. Perkins throws a head punch that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkins misses with the head strike.
Clough lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Perkins. Clough looking to throw knees to the head but Perkins is blocking nicely.
Clough keeps control of Perkins as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Perkins jumps guard but Clough stands there with Perkins around his waist. Perkins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Perkins misses with the head strike.
Clough swings wildly with an uppercut but Perkins uses good head movement to avoid it. Perkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Clough lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Perkins has a couple of punches blocked by Clough.
Perkins dodges an elbow strike from Clough.
Perkins has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Perkins wants to break the clinch but can't.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Clough. Nice body punch from Clough. Perkins is breathing heavily. Clough pushes off and lands a massive hook that knocks Perkins out cold! The fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Brian Clough! An out of breath Brian Clough thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
