Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Pe de Ferro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers clinches up with Pe de Ferro and pushes him back against the cage.
Pe de Ferro tries to pull guard but Rogers holds him up against the cage and eventually Pe de Ferro drops back down to his feet.
Pe de Ferro is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Rogers drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pe de Ferro pulls his leg out and moves away.
Pe de Ferro fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Pe de Ferro throws a big shot that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pe de Ferro.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Pe de Ferro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pe de Ferro tries to bench press Rogers off him but Rogers keeps the position.

Rogers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rogers jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pe de Ferro is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pe de Ferro and Rogers has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Pe de Ferro tries to hold on but Rogers pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I looks like Rogers might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pe de Ferro is in all sorts of trouble here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Steve Rogers just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pe de Ferro clinches but Rogers breaks the clinch

and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rogers's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Pe de Ferro is trying to control the position but Rogers postures up.
Rogers won't allow Pe de Ferro to sweep him here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pe de Ferro has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rogers off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Rogers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rogers postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pe de Ferro is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rogers, into his guard.

Pe de Ferro could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pe de Ferro wants to pass to mount but Rogers is defending the position.
Pe de Ferro is thwarting Rogers's attempts to control the position.
Pe de Ferro is looking to take a break and control but Rogers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pe de Ferro escapes and gets back to his feet.
Pe de Ferro tries to clinch but Rogers is having none of it.
Rick Pe de Ferro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rogers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Rogers is stalling in the full guard.

Pe de Ferro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rogers wants to get up but he can't break Pe de Ferro's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pe de Ferro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rogers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rogers lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Pe de Ferro stuffs the takedown attempt from Rogers. Rogers gets slowly back to his feet.

and Pe de Ferro counters with a three punch combo that has Rogers backing up. Rogers nods at Pe de Ferro to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pe de Ferro looks to land a combination but Rogers avoids it well.

Rogers closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rogers lands in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pe de Ferro has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rogers lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Rogers jumps guard and drags Pe de Ferro to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pe de Ferro tries to stand but Rogers is controlling from the bottom.
Rogers utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pe de Ferro avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pe de Ferro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rogers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rogers manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pe de Ferro manages to get himself to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rogers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pe de Ferro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rogers is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rogers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pe de Ferro is looking to get back to full guard here but Rogers has managed to pass to side control instead.
Pe de Ferro is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rick Pe de Ferro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rogers has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pe de Ferro's face.

Rogers is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pe de Ferro can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
