Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Gray Vick (ranked 12823 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Aoki (ranked 4895 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Gray Vick! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Shinya Aoki ! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Vick drives through and clinches with Aoki against the cage.
Vick jumps into guard, dragging Aoki to the mat.
Aoki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vick swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aoki avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Vick tries to land a sweep but no joy. Vick working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Aoki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Aoki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vick has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aoki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aoki sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vick's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vick looking for submissions off his back. Aoki stalling. Vick is trying to maintain the position but Aoki is very close to passing his half guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Vick is looking to regain half guard here but Aoki keeps moving and retains side control. Vick is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Aoki 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Vick trying to control from the bottom.
Aoki tries to pass to full mount but Vick defends it. Aoki trying to control the action but Vick is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vick makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vick. Vick is looking to sweep but instead, Aoki has passed into half guard.

Aoki drops back, looking for a kneebar! Vick looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Vick looks to have wriggled free... That's four minutes gone in the round. Vick is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Aoki has escaped the position, nice work there. Vick is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aoki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Aoki is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Vick is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Vick (6) vs (3) Aoki Aoki is controlling an arm, preventing Vick from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Vick goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Aoki turns into him and now he's in Vick's guard.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Aoki can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Vick looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Aoki is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. We've been hearing good reports from Vick's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Vick has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Aoki should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Vick has tightened it up now! Aoki should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
