Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reed Basaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jucal Jabneel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jabneel looks to land a body kick but Basaev moved away.
Basaev feinted with a counter takedown.
Jabneel swings widly with a right hand
and Basaev counters with a good low kick that Jabneel was not able to check.
Jabneel misses with a hook
and Basaev counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jabneel takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Basaev looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A decent looking cross lands there for Basaev.
Nice uppercut lands for Basaev. That snapped Jabneel's head back.
Jabneel misses the shot to the body.
Basaev misses the jab.
Jabneel drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Basaev defends it well.
Jabneel throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Basaev counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Basaev avoids a kick to the body.
Basaev misses the jab.
Jabneel tries a low kick but Basaev avoids it.
It looked like Basaev was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Basaev lands a nice hook to Jabneel's body. Jabneel takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Basaev lands a slapping body shot.
Jabneel looks winded!
Jabneel throws a lazy uppercut
and Basaev counters with a nice body shot.
Jabneel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Basaev.
Basaev lands a nice hook to Jabneel's body. Jabneel takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Basaev throws a one two combo.
Jabneel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Basaev.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Basaev cracks Jabneel with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Basaev moves out of range of the body kick from Jabneel.
Jucal Jabneel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Basaev cracks the inside of Jabneel's front leg.
Jabneel throws a body kick that misses.

Basaev drops Jabneel with a beautiful combination! Jabneel stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Basaev is looking for the KO!

Basaev cracks Jabneel with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jabneel looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Basaev finish him?


Jabneel is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jabneel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Basaev counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jabneel's knee momentarily.
BOOM! Basaev lands a beautiful left hook that drops Jabneel. Jabneel tries to recover but Basaev is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Jabneel lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Reed Basaev!
Reed Basaev decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
