Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Brannagan (ranked 1408 p4p, 168 weight class) and Holger The Dane (ranked 1434 p4p, 176 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brutus Brannagan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Holger The Dane! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Dane is looking to slow Brannagan down with leg kicks. The Dane misses with a wild combination.
The Dane takes one on the button. The Dane misses with a straight left. Brannagan keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Brannagan was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Brannagan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by The Dane. Brannagan throws a jab when The Dane was well out of range. The Dane works the jab nicely. The Dane moves out of range of the strikes. Brannagan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but The Dane was well out of range. Poor timing from Brannagan. Brannagan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Brannagan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. The Dane defends it nicely. Brannagan takes a swing at The Dane's ribcage but misses. Good standup being displayed there by The Dane as he connects with a hook. The Dane looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. A little feinted left hand from Brannagan on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. That kick from The Dane tenderised Brannagan's leg. Brannagan is trying to keep his angry face on. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The Dane throws a low kick but it's checked well by Brannagan. Brannagan is looking to counter punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brannagan throws a wild combination but nothing lands. The Dane swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. The Dane connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The Dane is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Brannagan. The Dane pushes Brannagan away with a front kick. The Dane throws a big shot that misses. The Dane throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Brannagan appears to be looking for a counter takedown. A big right from Brannagan misses. Brannagan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. The Dane blocks a jab. The Dane throws a hook to the side of Brannagan's head but Brannagan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Brannagan just misses with a punch to the body.

Brannagan slips under a jab. Brannagan misses the shot to the body. Brannagan throws a leg kick but The Dane checks it. Brannagan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brannagan showed some decent athleticism there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The Dane is controlling Brannagan's trapped leg to prevent Brannagan from advancing to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The Dane is not content to let Brannagan control the position. Brannagan content to control rather than advance. The Dane is looking for a sweep. Brannagan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Brannagan scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Brannagan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed The Dane's head. Brannagan is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brannagan lands strikes from half guard. Brannagan is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brannagan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The Dane is doing well to control the position and prevent Brannagan from advancing to side control. The Dane trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The Dane keeping hold of Brannagan's head, controlling as best he can. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Brannagan trying to pass the guard but The Dane defending well. Brannagan is working hard here to advance position. Brannagan is controlling the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. The Dane keeping hold of Brannagan's head, controlling as best he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. The Dane misses the shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Brutus Brannagan will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
The Dane uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brannagan. The Dane steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. The Dane swings away with a leg kick that misses. Brannagan throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by The Dane. Brannagan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming The Dane to the mat! The Dane manages to get full guard. The Dane is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Brannagan dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on The Dane's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The Dane is looking for a sweep. Brannagan trying to control the position but The Dane is working away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brannagan just content to control the position. Brannagan taking a break here but The Dane is having none of it and regains half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Dane tries to get to full guard but Brannagan has control of the leg. Well, if Brannagan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brannagan not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Brannagan connects with a nice short shot to The Dane's temple. Brannagan trying to control the action but The Dane is working from the bottom. Brannagan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. We've been hearing good reports from Brannagan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brannagan wants to control but The Dane is keeping him busy. Brannagan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but The Dane sees it coming and defends easily. The Dane tries to roll over but Brannagan keeps him under control. Brannagan throws a strike but The Dane avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Brannagan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The Dane keeping moving, preventing Brannagan from controlling successfully. The Dane wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round. The Dane wants to control but Brannagan is keeping busy and won't allow it. Brannagan trying to pass the guard but The Dane defending well. The Dane is trying to maintain the position but Brannagan is very close to passing his half guard. Brannagan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The Dane is controlling Brannagan's trapped leg to prevent Brannagan from advancing to side control. Brannagan is just content to waste time from the top position. The Dane takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Brannagan looking to pass the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. The Dane pulls Brannagan in to control the position. Brannagan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Brannagan trying to control the position from guard on top but The Dane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brannagan tries to free his leg and advance position but The Dane is retaining full guard. Brannagan won't allow The Dane to get back to his feet. Brutus Brannagan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The Dane managing to control the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The Dane defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brannagan. The Dane fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Brannagan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Holger The Dane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed right hand from The Dane misses the target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brutus Brannagan dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
The Dane misses with a wild body shot. The Dane moves out of range as Brannagan strikes. Brannagan throws a looping overhand right but The Dane ducks down to avoid it. The Dane checks a leg kick. Brannagan throws an overhand right that lands on The Dane's shoulder, as The Dane tries to avoid the shot. Brannagan checks a low kick from The Dane. Brannagan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by The Dane. The Dane leaves Brannagan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The Dane tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Brannagan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but The Dane moves away. Both fighters circling a little - The Dane finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Brannagan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but The Dane swivels and escapes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brannagan dives in and grabs The Dane's left leg, looking for a takedown. The Dane pushes down on Brannagan's head and hops out. The Dane is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Brannagan with a body shot. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brutus Brannagan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Brannagan feints and as The Dane raises his hands in defense, Brannagan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Brannagan content to stall in guard here. Brannagan preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Dane working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Brannagan. The Dane wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The Dane keeping full guard, as Brannagan tries to pass. Brannagan sitting in guard here, content to control. The Dane avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Brannagan scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Brannagan trying to control but The Dane is working from the bottom. Brannagan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brannagan moves out of range of the body kick. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Brannagan. Brannagan closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The Dane did well to prevent Brannagan getting side control. Brannagan trying to control from half guard but The Dane is working away. The Dane wants to get back to full guard. Brannagan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but The Dane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The Dane trying to control here.
Brannagan wants to lay and pray for a moment but The Dane keeps working. The Dane controlling the position well. Brannagan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that The Dane can do to turn this around?

The Dane felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The Dane is looking for a sweep. Brannagan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The Dane is defending against the submission attempts here by Brannagan.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Both fighters circling a little - The Dane finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Brannagan moves out of range of the leg kick from The Dane. Brannagan thinks about countering with a body kick. The Dane throws a quick inside leg kick. The Dane misses with a double jab.
The Dane throws a shot from downtown. Brannagan moves away and avoids it. The Dane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and The Dane wants it to stay on the feet. Brannagan misses with a two punch combination.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The Dane bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. The Dane scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Brannagan slips a jab from The Dane. Brannagan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brutus Brannagan. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brannagan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
