Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jame Boyle (ranked 24876 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Dias (ranked 6974 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jame Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Dias!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dias misses with a double jab
and Boyle counters with a three punch combo that has Dias backing up. Dias nods at Boyle to acknowledge the strikes.
Dias displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boyle.
Boyle slaps away a takedown attempt from Dias, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boyle moves in looking to clinch but Dias pushes him off.
Dias tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Boyle defends well and Dias ends up having to push Boyle into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And Boyle counters with a quick kick to the body but Dias blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boyle on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Boyle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Dias with a lazy takedown attempt
and Boyle counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jame Boyle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Dias.

Boyle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boyle lands in his opponent's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Boyle's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Boyle decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Boyle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dias.
Dias looks winded!
Dias lands with a nice combination. Boyle backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Jame Boyle has been cut.
Boyle takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Boyle gets the takedown into side control.

Boyle decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Dias throws a right hand that Boyle ducks under and follows up with a left that Boyle also avoids with ease.

Boyle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Boyle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Dias bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dias closes the distance and pushes Boyle back into the cage.
Boyle has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Dias after a bit of a struggle.
Dias is trying to break the clinch but Boyle is controlling him.
Boyle is working for takedown but Dias is calmly controlling the position for now.
Dias putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Boyle in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Dias escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dias fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boyle could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dias shoots in for a double leg but Boyle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Dias misses with a wild combination.

Boyle closes the distance and clinches.

Boyle gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Dias pushes Boyle off and gets back to his feet.

Boyle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Boyle showed some decent athleticism there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boyle keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Boyle stands up and beckons Dias to join him on the feet.
Dias goes for a double leg but Boyle avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Boyle continues to drive forward.

Boyle changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dias fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Boyle forces Dias back against the cage and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nick Dias will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Boyle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boyle lands in his opponent's guard.
Dias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boyle is one step ahead there.
Boyle wants to stand and escape but instead Dias has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dias wants to control from the top but Boyle keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dias got a little sloppy there for a moment and Boyle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dias has managed to get both his arms back between Boyle's legs - danger averted.

Dias wants to pass the guard but Boyle is keeping the position.
Dias throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boyle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Dias is breathing heavily.
Dias looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boyle is one step ahead there.

Boyle gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Boyle fails with a takedown attempt.
Boyle shoots in for a takedown but Dias shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nick Dias seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dias moves into the clinch.
Dias tries to score a body lock takedown but Boyle shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Dias gets underhooks to prevent Boyle's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jame Boyle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boyle lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Dias is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boyle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boyle's back!
I really don't envy Boyle right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boyle trying to control the position but Dias manages to sink in the hooks.
Dias is trying to stick to Boyle's back but Boyle is turning into Dias. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Dias's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Boyle.

Boyle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dias is proving hard to escape from.
Dias wants to get back to his feet but Boyle is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Boyle's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Dias is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jame Boyle will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Dias tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Boyle defends well and Dias ends up having to push Boyle into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Jame Boyle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Boyle wanted to stand there but Dias had control of the position.
Boyle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Boyle stands up from Dias's guard - Boyle perhaps looking for a knockout.

Dias throws a body kick that misses
and Boyle counters with a nice kick to the body.

Dias moves into the clinch successfully.

Boyle has picked Dias up - he's going for a ride! Boyle dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Dias is trying to control but Boyle passes into side control!

Dias sneaks back into half guard.
Dias has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Boyle is working away from the top position though.

Boyle moves into the clinch.
Dias is pressed up against the cage. Boyle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dias down to the mat. Dias avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Dias ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dias no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Boyle tries to stand but Dias is controlling from the bottom.

Dias manages to break the clinch.

enabling Dias to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jame Boyle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jame Boyle.
I think Boyle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
