Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Rowler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Majida Winger! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winger stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Winger wants it to stay on the feet. Rowler shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Winger sprawls well. Winger wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rowler gets slowly back to his feet. Rowler fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Rowler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Winger gets in close and instigates a clinch. Winger escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
No luck for Rowler with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Winger moves into the clinch. Winger tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rowler just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. A short right from Winger on the inside. Winger jumps into guard, dragging Rowler to the mat.
Winger is striking from the bottom but Rowler uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rowler is trying to control. Winger wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Winger moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Winger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Winger trying to keep a closed guard but Rowler is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Winger looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rowler passes into side control.
Rowler is looking to take a break and control but Winger is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Winger can't do much from the bottom here. Rowler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Winger knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Winger sneaks back into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Winger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rowler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Winger is trying to maintain the position but Rowler is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Winger tries to kick Rowler off but Rowler keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Winger trying to control but Rowler postures up.
Winger looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Winger is not content to let Rowler control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rowler fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Rowler is looking to clinch but Winger is avoiding it.
Winger darts in and clinches Rowler up against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Winger.

Winger lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Rowler backwards. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Winger pulls Rowler into guard.
Winger wants to control the position but Rowler says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Winger is refusing to be controlled, as Rowler sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Majida Winger dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Winger moves into the clinch successfully.
Winger is trying to pull guard but Rowler turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Winger turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Winger manages to end up in side control. Rowler manages to work his way to half guard, despite Winger's best efforts. Winger has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ground and pound from Winger. Winger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Winger misses with a head shot. Rowler uses the momentum to regain guard. Winger with a nice head shot there. Rowler wants to sweep here but Winger controlling him for the moment. Winger is in close to Rowler's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Winger trying to control the position from guard on top but Rowler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Winger makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Winger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rowler wants to sweep but no luck. Winger cracks Rowler with a solid left hand. Winger scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Winger looking to sit in guard and control but Rowler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rowler trying to control the position from guard on top but Winger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Winger working for a triangle but Rowler defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Winger wants to improve his position but instead Rowler has moved into half guard.
Rowler is working for a submission of some sort.
Rowler thows a huge punch but Winger dodges it nicely.
Winger is refusing to be controlled, as Rowler sits in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Winger flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Winger looks like he's trying to stand up.
Winger tries to get to full guard but Rowler has control of the leg. Winger missing with punches from the bottom.
Winger lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage. Winger tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Rowler wants to take a breather but Winger is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Winger is kicking away at Rowler from the bottom - trying to push off and stand up. Rowler grabs hold of a leg and drops back for a heel hook! The two fighters roll across the mat, with Winger trying to push Rowler off... Winger taps! He's tapped! This one is all over! A throwback to the old Pancrase there with an infrequently seen submission hold! Nice work.
