Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Phil Philips! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bored Cheat! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Philips fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cheat to the ground. Philips is now in Cheat's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Philips is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cheat has momentary wrist control but Philips slips an elbow through the middle. Philips cracks Cheat with a solid left hand. Philips slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Philips might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cheat throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Philips escapes and throws Cheat's legs to the side, diving into side control! Cheat taking a bit of punishment here - Philips scoring with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Philips scoring with punches from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Cheat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Philips. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cheat tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Philips wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Philips landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Philips is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cheat's shoulder. That is not cool. Cheat is trying to work for a sweep but Philips has mounted him! Philips has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cheat is trying to escape the mount.
Cheat keeps trying to improve his position. Philips lands a nice shot to the head. Cheat in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Philips is landing with some decent strikes but Cheat is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Philips pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Cheat tries to reverse the position but Philips maintains control. Philips lands a heavy elbow. A nice elbow there by Philips. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Philips lands a big shot there that rocks Cheat but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Philips controlling the pace for now. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. A nice elbow there by Philips. Philips cracks Cheat with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Cheat is looking to get to half guard. Philips postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cheat looks a forlorn figure.
Philips lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Cheat tries to reverse the position but Philips maintains control. Philips punishing his opponent with strikes. Philips punishing his opponent with strikes. Philips controlling his opponent. Philips looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Cheat is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Philips looking to finish Cheat with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cheat! Cheat is trying to escape the mount.

Let's see if Cheat can do anything to dispel that myth. Philips scoring with strikes but Cheat is staying in there. Philips looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Cheat is rocked! Philips lands a big shot to the head and Cheat winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
