Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rubens Charles (ranked 1438 p4p, 49 weight class) and Phil Philips (ranked 3555 p4p, 138 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Rubens Charles has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rubens Charles seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rubens Charles! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Phil Philips! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Charles gets caught flat footed, as Philips shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Philips is looking to work some ground and pound but Charles has wrist control. Philips with a flurry of punches that miss. Philips trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Philips throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Philips throws a big right hand that misses. Philips postures up in Charles's guard and throws a big left but Charles blocks it. Philips engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Philips throws a big elbow that misses. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Philips accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Philips with a flurry of punches that miss. Philips landing with the ground and pound. Philips wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving. Philips postures up in Charles's guard and throws a big left but Charles blocks it. Philips is working Charles over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Charles is on top in guard.
Charles avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Philips is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Charles is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Charles stopping the sweep attempt from Philips. Charles wants to control from the top but Philips keeps moving.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Philips fails with the takedown.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Philips shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Charles as he avoids it easily. Charles half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Philips darts in looking for a takedown but Charles gets double underhooks and turns Philips into the cage. Charles half committed to a counter leg kick. Rubens Charles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Philips. Charles looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Philips! Philips tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Charles controlling from mount. Philips is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Philips keeps trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Philips holds on to Charles as tight as he can, avoiding damage. Philips keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Charles content just to control the position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Phil Philips will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Philips shoots in for a takedown but Charles shows good takedown defense. Charles went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Charles drives through with a takedown into guard. Philips looking for a sweep. Not yet Philips, not yet. Charles pushes down on Philips's leg and manages to get into half guard. Philips trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Philips wants to improve his position but Charles is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Philips looking for submissions off his back. Philips is trying to get back to full guard. Philips is still trying to improve position. Philips is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Charles has latched onto it... Big trouble! Charles pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Philips is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Charles!

A very excited looking Rubens Charles made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
