Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tom Diaz (ranked 6739 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Kamuzai (ranked 6663 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tom Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kai Kamuzai!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamuzai fakes the leg kick and cracks Diaz in the body.
Nice sprawl there from Diaz as Kamuzai shoots in.
Kamuzai tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily

and Diaz counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Kamuzai!

Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kamuzai wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Diaz lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kamuzai wants to control but Diaz postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz tries for a kimura but Kamuzai is defending well.
Kamuzai on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Diaz stands up and beckons Kamuzai to his feet.
Kamuzai closes this distance looking for a takedown but Diaz circles away.
Tom Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kai Kamuzai.
Kamuzai looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kamuzai fails with a takedown attempt.
Kamuzai looks winded!
Diaz goes for a double leg but Kamuzai avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kamuzai continues to drive forward.

and Diaz counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Kamuzai trying to hold on to Diaz's head to control him but Diaz postures up.
Diaz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Diaz decides to return to a standing position.

Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kamuzai is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Diaz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Diaz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kamuzai is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kamuzai is trying to control but can't.
Diaz content to control rather than advance.
Diaz is nestled in close to Kamuzai, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Still in half guard, Diaz seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kamuzai with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Diaz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Diaz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Diaz works his foot free and advances to mount.
Kamuzai is bucking up trying to escape but Diaz cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Kamuzai is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diaz scoring with strikes but Kamuzai is staying in there.
Kamuzai is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?
Diaz lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kamuzai hang on?
Diaz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Kamuzai wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Diaz celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tom Diaz!
