Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Grimdal (ranked 8106 p4p, 609 weight class) and Gilbert Valur (ranked 4970 p4p, 517 weight class). Valur has chosen David Bowie - Let's Dance as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reggie Grimdal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gilbert Valur!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimdal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Valur.
Some wild striking there from Grimdal.
Valur gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Grimdal counters with a series of strikes. Valur will be more careful next time no doubt.

Valur dives in and scores a takedown into Grimdal's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grimdal is breathing heavily.
Valur stays in close to Grimdal's body and controls the position.
Grimdal preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Valur is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Grimdal can't keep his opponent in guard - Valur advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Valur has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Valur seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Grimdal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Valur with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Valur stands up from half guard.

Valur shoots in and gets a takedown into Grimdal's guard.

Valur stands up and waves to Grimdal to follow him.

Valur decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Valur wants to free his trapped foot but Grimdal is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Still in half guard, Valur seems content to control.

Valur is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Grimdal is just riding it out for now. Valur eventually gives up the hold.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Valur works his foot free and advances to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Valur is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Grimdal has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Grimdal has left one of his arms exposed and Valur doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Grimdal screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gilbert Valur!
