Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Norman (ranked 5918 p4p, 572 weight class) and Aran Ryan (ranked 2928 p4p, 394 weight class). Norman comes to the cage accompanied by Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Aran Ryan enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, William Norman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aran Ryan!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Norman misses with a straight left.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ryan! But no joy.
Norman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ryan throws out a counter right but Norman avoids it with no problem.
Norman fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ryan checks it well.
Ryan jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Norman moves into the clinch successfully.
Ryan misses with a short punch on the inside.
Norman tries to land knees in the clinch but Ryan avoids the damage to the body.
A hook to the body from Ryan.
Ryan misses with a body punch.
Norman has Ryan pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ryan manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Norman misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ryan throws a punch but it's blocked by Norman.
Ryan is looking to control Norman's arms but Norman gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ryan has his back to the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Norman creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Ryan lands a body punch in the clinch.
Norman wants to take the fight to the mat but Ryan manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Ryan scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Norman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ryan pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Norman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan swings wildly with an uppercut but Norman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ryan struggles to land a body shot inside as Norman controls his hands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryan lands a shoulder strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ryan.
Norman tries to land knees in the clinch but Ryan avoids the damage to the body.
Norman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ryan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Norman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Norman throws a right and a left that Ryan avoids nicely.

Norman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ryan sprawls well initially but Norman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Norman uses his free foot to push down on Ryan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ryan.

Norman wants to finish this one by submission but Ryan is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Norman.

Norman has control of Ryan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ryan regains control of the situation pretty easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ryan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Norman looking to secure an arm triangle but Ryan defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Norman looking to control and managing it successfully.
Ryan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Ryan blocking the ground and pound.
Norman thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Norman throws some wild stikes that Ryan manages to avoid easily.

Norman looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Norman quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Norman but it's paid off an Ryan is forced to tap! Nice work by Norman.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). William Norman!
