The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Paula stuffs the takedown attempt from Picchioni. Picchioni gets slowly back to his feet.
De Paula tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Picchioni paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - De Paula looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
De Paula lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Rodrigo Picchioni has been cut.
De Paula throws a right hand that Picchioni ducks under and follows up with a left that Picchioni also avoids with ease.
Picchioni gets the takedown into side control.
Picchioni decides to stand back up. Picchioni steps back and let's De Paula get back to his feet.
Picchioni will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Picchioni shoots in but De Paula avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Picchioni is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. De Paula doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Picchioni.
Picchioni is looking to advance position but De Paula won't allow it.

De Paula is pressing down on Picchioni's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
De Paula is looking to stand up but Picchioni isn't so interested in that idea.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

De Paula drops Picchioni with a right and a left! De Paula comes rushing in but Picchioni regains his composure and manages to keep De Paula in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Paula wants to stand but Picchioni is controlling his posture from full guard.
Picchioni is still in real trouble! Can De Paula finish him?
Picchioni should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

De Paula gets to his feet. Picchioni looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Picchioni seems to have recovered his senses.
De Paula scores with a one two! Picchioni had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
De Paula scores with a jab to the body.
De Paula tries to close the distance and clinch but Picchioni swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
De Paula wants to clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Danga de danga de dang - De Paula scores with a four punch combination!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcus De Paula dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rodrigo Picchioni's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Picchioni wants to clinch
and De Paula connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
De Paula drops Picchioni with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Picchioni! De Paula dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
