Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anibal Carney (ranked 25111 p4p, 0 weight class) and Soren Bak (ranked 5230 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Soren Bak was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anibal Carney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Soren Bak! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carney chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bak can pounce on him.
Carney could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bak darts in and clinches Carney up against the cage. Carney has had enough of the clinch but Bak keeps him there for the moment. Bak wants the takedown. Carney is fighting it off but Bak persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Carney's guard against the cage. Bak has gone for a leg lock! Carney slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bak's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carney slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Carney gets to his feet - Bak follows without any prompting. Bak wants to clinch up but Carney keeps it at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bak fails in his attempt to clinch. As Bak looks to move away, Carney throws a big counter combo but Bak just gets out of the way. Bak moves to clinch but Carney breaks away and Carney counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bak won't be happy with that. Bak explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carney tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bak defends well and Carney ends up having to push Bak into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carney looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Carney looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Carney postures up.
Bak is working an open guard so Carney takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carney tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bak sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carney somewhat. Soren Bak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carney tries to clinch but Bak is having none of it. Bak fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carney to the ground. Bak is now in Carney's guard. Carney has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bak is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bak unloads a knee to the mid-section. Carney lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carney fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anibal Carney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bak lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Anibal Carney has been cut. Carney is trying to stall.
Bak putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Carney in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Carney is breathing heavily. Bak connects with a nasty looking knee right to Carney's face.
Bak manages to break the clinch.
Bak moves into the clinch successfully.
Carney is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bak is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Carney to the mat. Carney regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Bak's corner is telling him to maintain position. Bak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carney is keeping the position for now. Bak trying to control but Carney is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bak trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bak is pushing down on Carney's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carney is fighting to maintain full guard but Bak has managed to sneak the leg through. Bak escapes and gets back to his feet. Bak lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Bak lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Carney can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Bak and Carney drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Bak.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Soren Bak!
