Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Publius Sestius (ranked 2960 p4p, 363 weight class) and James Steel (ranked 3527 p4p, 413 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Publius Sestius! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Steel! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sestius closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Steel tries to land knees in the clinch but Sestius avoids the damage to the body. Sestius working aggressively here.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Sestius. Steel goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Sestius misses with the head strike.
Steel blocks the elbow strike.
Steel struggles to land a body shot inside as Sestius controls his hands.
Sestius with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
It looks like James Steel has been cut. A head punch on the inside from Sestius fails to land. Sestius prevents the takedown attempt.
Steel misses with some punches.
Sestius gets underhooks to prevent Steel's takedown attempt.
Steel is working for takedown but Sestius is calmly controlling the position for now. Publius Sestius has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Steel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Sestius pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Steel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sestius defends it nicely.

Sestius throws a series of punches but Steel moves out of range. Sestius fails to land with a series of punches.
Steel throws out a counter right but Sestius avoids it with no problem. Sestius misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Steel misses with a wild body shot. Sestius moves out of range as Steel strikes. James Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sestius has Steel up against the cage in a clinch.
Steel tries to work over Sestius's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Sestius creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Steel's defenses. Sestius misses with a punch to the body.
Sestius breaks the clinch.
Sestius displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Steel throws out the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sestius has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sestius tries to clinch there but Steel circles away.
Steel misses with the combination.
Steel lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sestius at a distance.
A combination from Steel does no damage. A punch combination from Sestius misses. Publius Sestius is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Steel tries to score with a low kick but Sestius moves his leg out of the way. Sestius tries to clinch there but Steel circles away.
Steel misses with a right hand and Sestius counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Sestius on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Steel darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Sestius misses with a double jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sestius moves away from the strike by Steel. Steel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Sestius pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Steel throws a body shot but no joy. Sestius throws a right and a left that Steel avoids nicely. Sestius fails to land with a series of punches.
Sestius wants to slow Steel down by chopping away at his legs. Sestius slips under a jab. Sestius tries to work over Steel's front leg with a kick but Steel checks it. Sestius showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Steel.
We've been told by Sestius's head coaches at We never Tap that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sestius misses with a two punch combination.
Sestius on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sestius uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Steel. Sestius ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Steel tries to score with a low kick but Sestius moves his leg out of the way. Steel connects with a single shot there. A slapping body kick lands there for Sestius. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sestius moves in looking to clinch but Steel pushes him off. Steel tests Sestius's chin there with a solid looking shot. Sestius throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Steel. Steel is looking for the big counter here. Sestius cracks the inside of Steel's front leg. Sestius closes the distance and clinches. A right hand to the body from Steel.
Sestius misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Sestius tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Steel is looking for a takedown. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Publius Sestius dominated that round. The cut man is working on James Steel's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Sestius takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A head kick misses from Sestius. Sestius avoids the body shot from Steel.
Sestius appears to be looking for a big counter. Sestius takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Sestius throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Steel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Steel. Sestius is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Sestius keeping full guard, as Steel tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sestius wants to stand but Steel is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sestius scores with a head kick.
Sestius moves in looking to clinch but Steel pushes him off. Sestius clinches up with Steel and pushes him back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head punch on the inside from Sestius fails to land. Sestius with a knee to the head.
Steel gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Steel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sestius is keeping the position for now. Steel trying to control but Sestius is working from the bottom. Steel won't allow Sestius to get back to his feet. Sestius has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Steel off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Sestius tries to clinch up but Steel circles away and keeps his distance. Steel changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A looping hook to the body misses from Steel. Sestius does a little dance to reset his feet. Sestius throws a big counter combination but Steel scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Sestius scores with the left hand. Steel knows he should have avoided that one. Steel throws a lazy right hand but Sestius sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. James Steel seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sestius tries to clinch but Steel moves out of range. Steel throws a leg kick but Sestius moved away. Sestius takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Publius Sestius is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sestius rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Steel moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Steel tries to keep at a distance but Sestius has taken the fight into the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Steel. Steel has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Sestius avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Sestius breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Steel cracks Sestius with an open hand slap. Sestius throws a head kick that half lands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sestius is fending him off so far but Steel persists. Nope, Sestius circles away and we're back to standing. Sestius half committed to a counter leg kick. Sestius closes the distance looking to clinch and Steel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sestius scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Steel manages to mount him!
Sestius is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Steel wants to control the pace but Sestius is squirming around nicely. Steel fails to move to back control. Sestius is trying to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but James Steel will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on James Steel's cut. That's time! Sestius's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Sestius throws a jab but it's blocked by Steel. Sestius drives through and clinches with Steel against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Steel. Sestius manages to break the clinch.
Sestius throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Sestius tries to clinch up but Steel circles away and keeps his distance. Good exchange - Steel coming out on top. Steel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Steel blocks a head kick by Sestius.

Steel is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Sestius wants to clinch up but Steel keeps it at a distance. Steel missing with a left hand there. Sestius was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Steel misses with a double jab
enabling Sestius to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sestius throws a sloppy head kick and Steel moves out of range easily. Sestius tries to clinch there but Steel circles away.
Steel connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Sestius is looking to clinch but Steel is avoiding it.
Sestius tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Decent striking displayed by Steel there. Steel misses the shot to the body. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Sestius - that will leave a mark!
Sestius staying out of range there. Sestius tries to clinch up. Steel goes for a double leg but Sestius avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sestius continues to drive forward.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Steel scores with a punch to the head. Sloppy strikes from Sestius. Those never looked like landing. Sestius misses with a series of wild punches.
Steel scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Sestius is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Sestius get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Sestius stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Steel runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
