Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sao Alela (ranked 2560 p4p, 284 weight class) and Ethan Wright (ranked 3886 p4p, 390 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alela might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ground Zero (MOP). The key to victory for Sao Alela has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sao Alela!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethan Wright!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alela throws a good cross that connects.
Wright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alela swivels and escapes.
Wright shoots for a takedown but Alela saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alela sprawls well. Alela wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wright gets slowly back to his feet.
Alela feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Sao Alela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ethan Wright.
Wright wants to clinch but Alela slips to the side
and Alela counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Wright fails with the takedown
and Alela counters with a left and a right that stings Wright.
Alela darts in and clinches Wright up against the cage.
Wright tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wright fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wright goes for a takedown attempt but Alela pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Alela is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Alela circles away and we're back to standing.

and Alela counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Wright shoots for a double leg takedown but Alela sprawls well. He's pushed Wright's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Alela throws out a powerful jab.
Wright gets tackled into the cage by Alela. Alela maintains the clinch.
Alela lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Alela pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wright fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Alela avoids it really well and circles away.
Wright on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Wright is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alela sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Alela was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Alela clinches.
Wright wants to get back to striking at distance but Alela won't allow it.
Alela breaks the clinch.
Wright shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
An attempted straight right counter from Alela misses the target.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Wright.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Alela regains half guard.
Alela trying to hold on to Wright's head to control him but Wright postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alela is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wright's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wright's back!

Alela is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Alela's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Wright staying busy and making it hard for Alela to control.
Wright rolls, trying to escape but Alela keeps control of the position.
Wright is still trying to improve position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sao Alela dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alela scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Wright tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Alela manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Alela on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Alela keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Wright tries for a takedown but Alela sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Alela is looking to counter punch.
The crowd cheers as Alela lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wright doesn't seem phased though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alela but Alela pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Alela lunges at Wright with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wright's hand.

Wright is breathing heavily.

Alela pounces like a tiger and cracks Wright with a vicious hook! Wright is down but not out! Alela follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Sao Alela gave a mention to Pit Bull Development in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
