Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Silvio Dante (ranked 3064 p4p, 253 weight class) and Joca Carioca (ranked 4075 p4p, 310 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Silvio Dante! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joca Carioca! The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Winston Howard and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carioca misses with a takedown letting Dante counter with a right hand. Carioca on the wrong end of a nice hook. Carioca tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dante sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carioca somewhat. Silvio Dante has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joca Carioca. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dante sizes up Carioca with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Carioca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dante as he avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dante throws a body punch but Carioca moves out of range. Carioca doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Dante displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carioca. Silvio Dante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dante throws a shot from downtown. Carioca moves away and avoids it. Dante fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carioca looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Nice body punch from Dante. Carioca misses with a takedown attempt - Dante sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Dante throws a lazy right hand but Carioca sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carioca is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Dante misses with a hook
and Carioca counters with a nice double leg into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carioca drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dante looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dante looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dante!
This has been an exciting period of action! Dante stands up and we're back to a striking position. Dante looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Dante tests Carioca's chin there with a solid looking shot. Carioca throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Carioca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dante as he avoids it easily. Dante lands a really nice looking cross but Carioca seems unphased.
Carioca uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dante. Dante misses with a wild body shot. Dante throws a big shot that misses. Carioca tries to counter by closing the distance. Silvio Dante is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Dante. No joy for Carioca on that attempt. It looked like Dante was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Carioca. Carioca has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carioca there as he acknowledges the shot. Nice straight punches there by Dante. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dante.
Carioca is rocked! Dante cracks Carioca with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Carioca tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Dante pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Carioca is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
