Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Irwin Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Franklyn George !
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

George closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rodriguez's guard.
Rodriguez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

George avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rodriguez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and George defends well.
George really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rodriguez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in George 's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

George looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
George wants to stand up but Rodriguez is controlling him.
George wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rodriguez is now in half guard.

George holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Well, if Rodriguez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
George is trying to control but can't.
Rodriguez stops George from getting back to his feet.

George has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rodriguez is on him like a limpet, forcing George back against the cage.
Rodriguez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but George is defending well.

Rodriguez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Stalling in the clinch from George .
George lands with a short shot to the head.
Rodriguez fails to pull guard.
Rodriguez has George pressed against the cage, preventing George from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
With the fighters up against the cage, George throws an elbow but misses.
George misses with a punch on the inside.

George has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rodriguez clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rodriguez trying to get back to his feet but George is in full control for now.
George just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

A lull in the action here.

George has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rodriguez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
George looks winded!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rodriguez manages to reverse the position and now he's in George 's guard. Nice work there by Rodriguez.

Rodriguez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
George throws a leg kick that misses.
Rodriguez tries to counter by clinching up but George breaks away and moves out of range.
Rodriguez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A head kick from Rodriguez lands but George takes it in his stride.

George closes the distance and clinches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Franklyn George will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



George shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Rodriguez kicks George off and gets back to his feet.

George moves into the clinch.

George is trying to break the clinch but Rodriguez has him pressed against the cage.

Rodriguez decides to pull guard.

Rodriguez looking for a guillotine here but George defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

George looking to sit in guard and control but Rodriguez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

George is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

George is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
George is breathing heavily.

Rodriguez gets to his feet - George follows without any prompting.

George turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Rodriguez bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Rodriguez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Rodriguez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rodriguez tries to sprawl but George drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Rodriguez has one foot on George 's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
George scores with a one two! Rodriguez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
George takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rodriguez fails with a takedown attempt.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Rodriguez has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rodriguez tries to pull guard but George forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Rodriguez is fighting off a takedown attempt but George is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rodriguez to the mat. Rodriguez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Rodriguez lands some strikes from the bottom.

Rodriguez uses the cage to get back to his feet.

George closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rodriguez quickly recovers to half guard.

Rodriguez manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. George keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Irwin Rodriguez dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



George drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rodriguez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, George asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodriguez throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

As George tries to get set, Rodriguez tries to push him back and clinch up but George manages to avoid the attempt.

Rodriguez throws a head kick but George moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

George throws a solid leg kick but Rodriguez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at George .

George looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
George wants to take a breather but Rodriguez is having none of it.
George seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rodriguez manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

George stays in close to Rodriguez's body and controls the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
George stands up over Rodriguez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
George is looking to pass into half guard but Rodriguez pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rodriguez is in guard.

George looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rodriguez is one step ahead there.

Irwin Rodriguez showed his dominance in that final round.
