Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Kelley (ranked 25064 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Thomas (ranked 4440 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, George Kelley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Kelley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thomas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Thomas is looking for a sweep.

Kelley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Thomas is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kelley is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Kelley can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thomas is looking to escape.

Kelley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thomas wants to improve his position but Kelley is controlling well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thomas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Thomas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kelley pulls his head out easily.

Thomas is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Kelley jumps into side control!

Thomas is looking for a sweep. Kelley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Thomas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's time! Kelley's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kelley manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Thomas on his heels. He'll look to pass Thomas's guard now, I'm sure.

Kelley has gone for a leg lock! Thomas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kelley's guard.


Thomas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kelley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kelley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kelley!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thomas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kelley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kelley has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Kelley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Kelley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kelley is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Thomas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kelley pulls his head out easily.
Kelley misses with a head shot. Thomas uses the momentum to regain guard.
Kelley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thomas's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Thomas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kelley stacks Thomas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kelley!
Kelley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Thomas can do to turn this around?

Kelley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Thomas has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kelley wants to stand but Thomas is controlling his arm.

Kelley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thomas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kelley, into his guard.

Kelley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Thomas, pushing him back against the cage.

Thomas is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kelley can't fight it off and eventually Thomas manages to take the fight to the floor. Kelley looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Thomas goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kelley has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Thomas but great work by Kelley.

Thomas has a hand on Kelley's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kelley takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Thomas is bucking up trying to escape but Kelley cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Kelley is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thomas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Kelley is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thomas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
