The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yates pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Teach blocks a head kick by Yates.
Teach moves into the clinch successfully.
Teach tries for a takedown but Yates manages to get underhooks.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Teach connects with a nice short shot to Yates's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yates wants to control but Teach is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Yates seems a little lost for a moment, as Teach dominates the positioning.

Teach tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Teach has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Yates fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Teach has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Teach fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yates avoids it really well and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Yates has momentary wrist control but Teach slips an elbow through the middle.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rueben Yates.
