Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Snitch (ranked 1750 p4p, 207 weight class) and Cian Cartwright (ranked 3152 p4p, 331 weight class). Snitch comes to the cage accompanied by I Wanna Rock. Cartwright has chosen Engulfed by Darkness as his entrance music. Cian Cartwright has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Snitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cian Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snitch drives through with a takedown into Cartwright's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Snitch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cartwright has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Snitch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cartwright will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snitch is pushing down on Cartwright's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cartwright is fighting to maintain full guard but Snitch has managed to sneak the leg through.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Snitch is keen to just control but Cartwright is a slippery customer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cartwright moves forwards but Snitch connects with a nice, crisp jab.

A little feinted left hand from Snitch on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
We've been told by Snitch's head coaches at Grind Time [ *Double Elite Coaches] that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cartwright will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Snitch misses the shot to the body.
Snitch connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Cartwright momentarily.
Snitch dives in for a single leg takedown but Cartwright sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cartwright appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Snitch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartwright swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Snitch stays in close to Cartwright's body and controls the position.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Snitch dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cartwright lands a body shot.
Snitch is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cartwright can do to turn this around?

Cartwright feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Snitch manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Snitch drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cartwright gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cartwright wants the takedown. Snitch is fighting it off but Cartwright persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Snitch's guard against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cartwright throws an elbow that misses. Snitch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cartwright's guard. Nice move by Snitch!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
