The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Avery enables Abubalib to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Avery manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Avery tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Abubalib stops Avery from standing up.
Avery will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Avery really is a fat lump.
Avery wants to sweep but no luck.
Avery is working hard here to advance position.
Avery punching from the bottom - just letting Abubalib know he's still in a fight.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avery keeping moving, preventing Abubalib from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Abubalib looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Avery has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Abubalib is on him like a limpet, forcing Avery back against the cage.

Avery gets control of Abubalib's arms and successfully pulls guard. Avery will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Abubalib is looking to advance position but Avery has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Avery takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Abubalib stops Avery from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Abubalib can't escape the position.

Abubalib is just holding on here. Avery manages to take his back.

Avery is cranking Abubalib's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Abubalib! He's tightened the choke and Abubalib is tapping out!
