Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dimitar Stoichkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sildosoves Bagueirau! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bagueirau wants to clinch. Bagueirau tries to clinch but fails miserably and Bagueirau takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. No luck for Bagueirau with that takedown attempt. Stoichkov keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bagueirau shoots in looking for a takedown but Stoichkov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bagueirau's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Bagueirau shoots in for a takedown but Stoichkov shows good takedown defense. Dimitar Stoichkov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sildosoves Bagueirau. Stoichkov scores with a jab. Bagueirau's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Stoichkov connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Bagueirau scrambles back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Bagueirau looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Stoichkov is looking to counter punch. Bagueirau throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Stoichkov was covering up waiting for the punch and Bagueirau finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bagueirau pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stoichkov is keeping the position for now. Bagueirau forces his way into half guard. Bagueirau maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Stoichkov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bagueirau has cracked it and Stoichkov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bagueirau!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sildosoves Bagueirau! A less than humble Sildosoves Bagueirau misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
