Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joel Cameron (ranked 21191 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cliff Rigano (ranked 3255 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joel Cameron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Cliff Rigano!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cameron is looking to slow Rigano down with leg kicks.
Cameron has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Damage Inc. in the buildup to the fight.
Cameron lands a front kick.
Rigano takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Cameron moves into the clinch.

Cameron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rigano has his takedown stuffed
and Cameron connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Cameron has Rigano up against the cage in a clinch.
Cameron tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rigano's elbow.
Cameron swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Rigano prevents a body shot from Cameron.
Rigano drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cameron gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Cameron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cameron wants to clinch up but Rigano keeps it at a distance.
Rigano looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Cameron instigates a clinch.
Cameron swings wildly with an uppercut but Rigano uses good head movement to avoid it.
Rigano blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Rigano drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cameron gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Rigano is trying to drag Cameron to the mat but Cameron just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rigano has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cameron is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Cameron goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Cameron struggles to land a body shot inside as Rigano controls his hands.
Nice body punch from Cameron - that landed with a thud.
Rigano drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rigano has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cameron clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cameron is really stuck here.

Cameron is trying to break free.

Cameron is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Cameron knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rigano on the ground.
Rigano tries to keep control of the position but Cameron is staying busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rigano lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Cameron.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rigano really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Cameron.

Rigano working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Rigano struggling to land strikes to the head as Cameron covers up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joel Cameron dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cameron will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Rigano goes for a double leg but Cameron avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cameron continues to drive forward.
Cliff Rigano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rigano feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rigano wants to control from the top but Cameron keeps moving.
Cameron wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cameron continues to stall.

Cameron can't keep his opponent in guard - Rigano advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Cameron tries to get to full guard but Rigano has control of the leg.
Rigano wants to advance to full mount but Cameron doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Rigano trying to control but Cameron is working from the bottom.
Rigano might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cameron haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rigano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cameron is keeping the position for now.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cameron tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rigano swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rigano fails with the takedown
and Cameron makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Cameron fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rigano has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

and Cameron counters with a nice uppercut.

Rigano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cameron circles away.
It looked like Cameron was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rigano.

Rigano gets the takedown into side control.
Cameron is looking for a sweep.
Rigano creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cameron sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Cameron sneaks back into half guard.

Rigano is just content to waste time from the top position. Cameron takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Cliff Rigano has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rigano scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Cameron wants to sweep here but Rigano controlling him for the moment.
Rigano missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Rigano is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cameron is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cameron has escaped and now he's on top!


Rigano is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cameron is aware though and is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Rigano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cameron can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Cliff Rigano will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rigano is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cameron pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Cameron is working Rigano over against the cage.
Rigano can't get the takedown.

Cameron breaks from the clinch.
Rigano will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Rigano circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cameron lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Rigano gets tackled into the cage by Cameron. Cameron maintains the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cameron escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rigano takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Cameron fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rigano checks it well.
Rigano takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rigano looks for a takedown but Cameron sprawls well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rigano closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cameron circles away.
Cameron is looking to counter punch.

Rigano closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cameron did well to prevent Rigano getting side control.
Cameron makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cameron.

Rigano drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cameron looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cameron looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cameron!

Rigano tries to buck Cameron off but Cameron is having none of it.
Rigano is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cameron happy to just control the position for now.
Rigano is trying to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joel Cameron showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cameron has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
