Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Kent Mcallum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Gaffiti! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gaffiti falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mcallum counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mcallum. Gaffiti can't keep his opponent in guard - Mcallum advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcallum working over Gaffiti with some ground and pound. Gaffiti looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Mcallum is taking a breather. Gaffiti says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Gaffiti trying to control here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcallum is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gaffiti has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gaffiti trying to control from the bottom.
Mcallum content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Mcallum looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gaffiti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Mcallum takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Gaffiti wants to control but Mcallum is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gaffiti missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcallum lands a nice short elbow. Mcallum is thwarting Gaffiti's attempts to control the position. Gaffiti has a hand on Mcallum's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mcallum takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcallum connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Gaffiti tries to lock up and control but Mcallum gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gaffiti is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mcallum controlling the pace for now. Gaffiti tries to control the position but Mcallum now has his back.
Mcallum is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Gaffiti won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Mcallum off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kent Mcallum!
