Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nick Gracie Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Apidej Sit Hirun! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie Jr with a lazy takedown attempt and Sit Hirun counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Nick Gracie Jr has been cut. Gracie Jr shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sit Hirun as he jumps to the side. The fighters circle momentarily. Sit Hirun darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Sit Hirun blocks a jab. Gracie Jr closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sit Hirun did well to prevent Gracie Jr getting side control. Gracie Jr is looking to take a break and control but Sit Hirun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gracie Jr moves into full mount! Sit Hirun won't be happy about that! Gracie Jr misses with a head shot. Gracie Jr controlling from the full mount. Gracie Jr with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Gracie Jr has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sit Hirun is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie Jr is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sit Hirun is surviving well by controlling Gracie Jr's body position as best he can. Gracie Jr moves to the back. Gracie Jr trying to control momentarily.
Gracie Jr controlling the position well here. Sit Hirun rolled but Gracie Jr kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Sit Hirun can't escape the position.
Sit Hirun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gracie Jr is working for a rear naked choke. Sit Hirun is not defending it well and Gracie Jr has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Sit Hirun refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Sit Hirun's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nick Gracie Jr! Apidej Sit Hirun was interviewed post fight and said 'You are just lucky today!'.
