PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Jackson (ranked 445 p4p, 62 weight class) and John Edmonds (ranked 250 p4p, 39 weight class). Edmonds has chosen Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Edmonds!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson looking to score a takedown here. Edmonds is defending well but Jackson drives through and ends up in Edmonds's guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Edmonds keeps moving.
Jackson postures up in Edmonds's guard and throws a big left but Edmonds blocks it.
Edmonds is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson is looking to get back to full guard here but Edmonds has managed to pass to side control instead.
Jackson tries to buck Edmonds off but Edmonds is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson wants to hold on but Edmonds pushes him away.

Edmonds is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Edmonds looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Edmonds looking to control but Jackson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jackson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Still in half guard, Edmonds seems content to control.

Jackson actively working from the bottom here.

Edmonds looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jackson manages to get to full guard.

Jackson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Edmonds can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jackson wants to hit a switch here but Edmonds passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jackson there!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Edmonds trying to control but Jackson is having none of it.

Edmonds working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Jackson can't escape the position.
Jackson is working hard here to advance position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jackson manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Edmonds seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Edmonds will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Edmonds shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.

Edmonds has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jackson tries to roll over but Edmonds keeps him under control.
Edmonds wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Jackson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jackson has his feet on Edmonds's thighs here. He's pushed Edmonds off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Edmonds screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!

A very excited looking Luther Jackson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
