The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Schroder.
Schroder drops down looking for an ankle pick but Johnson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Schroder tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Schroder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Johnson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schroder wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Johnson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Schroder biding his time, looking for the opening.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schroder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
