0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Fisher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dominic Romanelli! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fisher shoots for a takedown but Romanelli saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Romanelli connects with a right hand. Fisher shakes it off.
It looks like John Fisher has been cut. Dominic Romanelli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Romanelli drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Romanelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fisher swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fisher wants to get back to his feet but Romanelli is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Romanelli stopping the sweep attempt from Fisher. Fisher has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Romanelli has passed into side control.
Romanelli scoring with punches from side control. Fisher tries to improve position but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Romanelli stands up and we're back to a striking position. Romanelli misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romanelli keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Romanelli fails with the takedown and Fisher cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Romanelli connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Fisher changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romanelli tries to avoid it but Fisher manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romanelli to the ground. Romanelli escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Fisher. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fisher is breathing heavily. Romanelli throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Romanelli lands a big shot that drops Fisher! Can he finish him?
Fisher is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Romanelli gets to his feet - Fisher follows without any prompting. Romanelli throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Fisher tumbling to the canvas! Oh Fisher is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
John Fisher's cut is getting worse. Romanelli stands up over Fisher, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Romanelli decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Romanelli shoots and misses and Fisher counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Fisher seems to have got his legs back now. Romanelli tries to roll over but Fisher keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romanelli makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Romanelli throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Romanelli shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Romanelli stuffs the takedown attempt from Fisher. Fisher gets slowly back to his feet. Fisher throws a series of punches but Romanelli moves out of range. Romanelli rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fisher moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Fisher bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Romanelli takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Romanelli pushes Fisher away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fisher gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Fisher goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Romanelli rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Fisher's guard! Nice work there by Romanelli! Romanelli pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fisher is keeping the position for now. Fisher has a closed guard, preventing Romanelli from standing up. Romanelli wants to pass the guard but Fisher is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Romanelli in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Fisher displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Romanelli throws out the jab. Fisher slips a straight right by Romanelli. Fisher looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Romanelli! Fisher trying to control but he's not successful this time. Fisher raining down shots from the mount! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fisher is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Romanelli can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Romanelli is squirming around, avoiding Fisher's attempts to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dominic Romanelli dominated that round. The cut man is working on John Fisher's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Fisher shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fisher showed some decent athleticism there. The fighters are battling for position here. Romanelli manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Romanelli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Fisher stands and steps away. Romanelli gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Fisher's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A punch combination from Romanelli misses. Fisher tries to free his leg and advance position but Romanelli is retaining full guard. Fisher trying to control the position from guard on top but Romanelli is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Romanelli wriggles free and stands up. Fisher shoots for a double leg takedown but Romanelli sprawls well. He's pushed Fisher's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Romanelli lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Romanelli. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Romanelli throws a series of punches but Fisher moves out of range. Romanelli misses with a takedown and Fisher counters with a shoot takedown. Romanelli fights it but they end up in guard.
