Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rory Bates (ranked 4989 p4p, 452 weight class) and Shock DaSystem (ranked 4342 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shock DaSystem!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates tries to sprawl but DaSystem drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bates controlling the position for now.
DaSystem working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
DaSystem is trying to control the action in half guard but Bates is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bates has one foot on DaSystem's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Bates takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
DaSystem shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
DaSystem throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Bates to regain full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

DaSystem feints and as Bates raises his hands in defense, DaSystem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
DaSystem drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bates dives on top into guard.
DaSystem wants to stand up but Bates is controlling him.
DaSystem tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bates distracts DaSystem with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

DaSystem is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bates postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

DaSystem really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
DaSystem utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
DaSystem wants to stand and escape but Bates is having none of it.

Bates is trying hard to land a takedown here. DaSystem sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Rory Bates will probably get the nod.

Bates shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bates was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

DaSystem postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bates is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of DaSystem, into his guard.

DaSystem throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A quick step to the side and Bates tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Shock DaSystem showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
DaSystem fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bates, pushing him back against the cage.
DaSystem has picked Bates up - he's going for a ride! DaSystem dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Bates pushes DaSystem off and gets back to his feet.
DaSystem wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and DaSystem counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bates gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows DaSystem to score an easy takedown into full guard.

They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Bates hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
