Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gracie sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gracie feinted with a counter takedown.
Gracie moves out of range of the body kick.
Akiyama bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gracie is trying to control Akiyama's posture but Akiyama avoids it.
Gracie is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at The Forge that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Gracie tries to buck Akiyama off but Akiyama is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akiyama tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akiyama is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gracie knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie tries to buck Akiyama off but Akiyama is having none of it.
Akiyama is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Akiyama tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Akiyama is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gracie is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Gracie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gracie.

Akiyama must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Akiyama is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Akiyama defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zenzo Akiyama dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Akiyama tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Akiyama manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Akiyama lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gracie backs up against the cage.
Akiyama has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Gracie misses with a takedown
and Akiyama moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akiyama throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Akiyama breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Akiyama closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Akiyama is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Akiyama content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Akiyama's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Akiyama is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Gracie manages to get to full guard.

Akiyama looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Akiyama keeps moving.

Akiyama really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Akiyama tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Akiyama would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Akiyama throws a strike but Gracie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Akiyama lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Akiyama lying in Gracie's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Gracie decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Akiyama taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
