Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kolbee Owens (ranked 3015 p4p, 329 weight class) and Felipe Silva (ranked 4387 p4p, 443 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Silva's choice of entrance music: Ratamahatta - Sepultura. Felipe Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens misses the shot to the body.
Silva misses with an uppercut
and Owens decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.
Our spies down at at Soul Supremacy Rio inform us that Silva has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Owens stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Owens defends it easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Owens slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Owens controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Owens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Owens getting side control.
Owens wants to pass the guard but Silva is defending well.
Owens working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Owens content to control rather than advance.
Owens is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Silva is desperately trying to improve his position but Owens has a good base and remains in mount.
Silva wants to hold on but Owens pushes him away.
Owens swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Silva is now in Owens's guard. A big mistake from Owens there, giving up the dominant position!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Owens doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Silva paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Owens - great work!
